Raising
The Bar
Darryl accumulated over 40 years of engineering and construction experience before God called him to Africa on an exploratory missions trip in late 2021 which led to Darryl designing and overseeing construction of a 11,000+ square foot children’s pediatric clinic centrally located in the heart of the neediest counties in Liberia. By far the biggest blessing has been the opportunity to develop relationships with and teach devotions to the 80+ man construction crew. He challenges them to not only build better buildings but to build better lives through a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ! Every day he has opportunity to challenge them to "raise the bar" in every area of their lives!
About Darryl Byle
At 61, engineer Darryl Byle felt God calling him from his busy work life in Montana to Liberia where he would be constructing a hospital for thousands of children in the remote interior, or “bush” as locals call it.
For over 20+ years Darryl has been running his own businesses, often having 2-3 different jobs going at the same time, until recently he felt God convicting him to “let go of the things of this world and to follow Him to Africa.” After much conviction, Darryl took a trip to Africa with no intention other than to see what the Lord was already doing.
After spending time with some of our mission partners in Bong County, Liberia, and hearing about the plans of building a clinic for some of the most vulnerable children in the world, he committed to becoming the lead engineer of the new 10,000-square-foot hospital build. Darryl has lived in Liberia for two years, leading a group of 50+ men. He’s not only teaching them new ways to build but he’s growing a relationship with each of them through morning devotionals and discipleship. Next stop: the construction of a pastoral training center in Liberia.
